DBC substrate makers need alumina that reaches high sintered density with a controlled microstructure for reliable copper bonding and thermal cycling, without pushing furnace energy and cost. Commodity alumina varies batch to batch in particle distribution and sinters inconsistently, forcing conservative firing schedules and yielding microstructures that limit bond reliability under power cycling.

[ 02 ]The Strocera approach

Strocera supplies sinter-active submicron α-Al₂O₃ that reaches 98.05% of theoretical density by pressureless sintering in air at 1550 °C, with no sintering additive. A narrow submicron distribution (D50 1.34 µm, D10 0.49 µm (490 nm)) yields a fine, uniform microstructure for consistent copper bonding and thermal-cycling performance. Validated to ASTM C20 and C1327 mechanical standards, the powder is supplied as a feedstock for partner DBC lines so substrate makers densify reliably at lower energy. This is delivered through a partner manufacturing route.
