[ 01 ]The challenge

An equipment deck is a mechanical interface before it is a structure. Electronics boxes, harness brackets, and sensor mounts are bolted or bonded to it, each with its own expansion rate, and every orbit works those joints. Aluminium decks expand enough that fastener preload cycles measurably; composite decks add a through-thickness mismatch at the insert. Over a mission of tens of thousands of cycles the failure is not the panel but the joint: preload relaxation, adhesive creep, and insert pull-out. Selecting a deck material on stiffness and mass alone leaves that fatigue budget unmanaged.

[ 02 ]The Strocera approach

Strocera formulates the deck material to the expansion of what is mounted on it, supplied as a ready-to-fire powder blend with the coefficient adjustable from negative to near-zero across 100 to 800 °C. You specify the mounted hardware, the joint types, and the orbital thermal profile; the mix is adjusted so the interface stays near stress-neutral through the cycle and the fastener preload stops working. Forming in your own facility means the panel geometry, insert pattern, and bonding process stay inside your integration flow. Expansion behaviour is traceable through the same push-rod dilatometry that characterises the blend.
